There are many dangers facing children online today. Here are some of the shocking statistics from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children:
- 79% of sexual solicitations against children occurred when they were using their home computer
- 1 in 7 children ages 10 – 17 had been solicited for sex on the Internet
- 4% of children had been aggressively solicited for sex
- 34% of children communicated online with people they did not personally know
- Only 27% of children who were exposed to unwanted sexual material reported it to parents
- Only 5% of online sex solicitations were reported to law enforcement
